I first came across the brand Missha on a trip to Taipei a few years ago. At that time, I wasn’t aware it was a popular Korean beauty brand but nonetheless, I ended up buying some things worth trying. Earlier this year, I saw some of their products being sold at Landmark Department Store, but it was through Twitter that I discovered that they have opened some standalone boutiques in Manila. Compared to their counters in Landmark, the standalone stores carry a wider range of the brand’s products.

Almost every Korean brand sells their own version of BB Cream – an all-in-one product similar to foundation (please see my related post BB Creams: Makeup must-have or hype?), and Missha’s version, rather 14 versions of them, do not disappoint. Out of the 14 varieties though, the most popular and often-recommended by beauty editors is the Perfect Cover formula, which gives light coverage with a matte finish. The brand’s other must-trys? The Super Aqua line. The Super Aqua line has products for every skin concern, but some of the line’s popular products are the super-light Lifting Eye Cream and Oxygen Micro Essence Peeling, a lotion-type exfoliator. If you have sensitive skin like mine, this product removes skin dead skin cells without that harsh, abrasive feeling. You just massage it on the face for 1-2 minutes, and the dead skin cells just roll off. This is like a mini-facial for me, since I prefer to keep visits to the spa or to the dermatologist at an absolute minimum.

What I like about Missha are the price points – the most expensive product is around Php1,500. Plus, some of their products, like the BB creams, come in smaller, travel-friendly sizes. And if you’re always on the lookout for a great lip balm like me, their lip balms are pretty good, as well. Just be careful when you shop – the number of products might confuse you at first, but zoom in to your skin concern or skin type, so you won’t end up buying products you don’t need.

Happy shopping!

Missha is at SM City Annex, North Edsa, SM Hypermart, Pasig, and at Landmark Department Stores in Trinoma Mall and Makati
