I got really excited when I heard that friend and colleague Isabel Gatuslao was launching her own line of paper products. You see, even if I’ve embraced all things digital, there’s still nothing quite like writing things down on a nice sheet of paper.

I first met Isabel (Isa to her friends) back when she was doing marketing and PR for a big hotel chain a few years ago. Much has changed since then  — Isa has since gone back to her love for graphic design, working on projects for www.daphne.ph, Kish, National Bookstore, SoFa, among others.

For Isabel’s initial collection Anglophilia, she took inspiration from all things British. Not quite a literal interpretation, but see subtle references to Sherlock Holmes with the “Pipe” design, and of course, the military reference with the “Chevron” design. Nothing cutesy, nothing too fancy  — the designs are sleek, simple, and elegant, and I love that these are locally-made! My personal picks are “Agador” and “Pipe,” which I got at National Bookstore for Php475. A great buy for yourself, or as a gift this Christmas.

Isabel Gatuslao paper products are available at Powerbooks stores and select National Bookstores. Each set contains 10 flat notecards with 10 black envelopes and clear sticker seals.
